England vs Pakistan: Records go for a toss after hosts score 444

Alex Hales scored his personal best of 171 runs surpassing the previous 

highest score by an England batsman in ODIs.

England produced some brilliance in the meadows of Trent Bridge to wrap up the series against Pakistan. After posting a whooping 444 runs on the board, the highest ever in the One Day Internationals, England beat Pakistan by 169 runs as the visiting team could manage only 275 at the end of day. It wasn’t just the number of runs scored at Trent Bridge. There are some other records too which went for a toss on August 30.
# England’s 444 runs for the loss of three wickets is the highest ever ODI total in the history of cricket. The previous highest was Sri Lanka’s 443 runs against Netherlands in Amstelveen in 2006. The record also pushed South Africa’s 439 runs against West Indies in 2015 to the third spot in the record books.
# Alex Hales scored his personal best of 171 runs surpassing the previous highest score by an England batsman in ODIs. Hales edged past Robin Smith’s 167 runs to places his name in history.
# England’s innings was studded with 16 sixes, the most in an ODI innings by England.
# English wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler produced the fastest ODI 50 for England in just 22 balls.
# Joe Root equaled the record of consecutive 50s for England. Root now has five 50s to his name in five consecutive games.
# Hales and Root together managed to pull the highest ever ODI partnership for any wicket against Pakistan. They scored 248 runs to go past the 238 run stand between Hashim Amla and AB de Villiers at the Wanderers in 2012.
# Pakistan saw a disappointing day in their bowling department as Wahab Riaz gave away 110 runs which is the second most runs conceded in the ODIs.
