Cauvery issue (Live): Security stepped up in Mandya after protests escalate
Bengaluru, Sept 6: Massive protests broke out in Mandya and other parts of Karnataka against the verdict of the Supreme Court which ordered the release of Cauvery Water to Tamil Nadu.
Protestors vandalised PWD office and a police station in Mandya. Here are the latest updates of the agitation:
2.32 pm: Security has been stepped up in the city and other parts of the state after protests escalted in Mandya.
2.30 pm: Schools and colleges in Mandya to remain closed for two days, says DK Shivakumar, Karnataka Minister.
2.15 pm: Cauvery issue: PWD office and a Police station vandalised by protesters in Mandya.
2.10 pm: Pro-Kannada organisations and several farmers unions have called for a Karnataka bandh on September 9.
2.00 pm: Protest against Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalithaa in Mandya. Effigies of Jayalalithaa were burnt by protestors.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah held a meeting at Vidhan Sabha ahead of all-party meet over the Cauvery water issue.
